What a tracker does, and what it does not
Trackers act after the car moves. That is why we never sell one as the whole answer.
A tracker can

A tracker cannot
- Stop the engine starting
- Stop a relay attack
- Keep the car where you left it
A tracker is still worth having. It is the only layer that helps when a car is towed or lifted away, and it gives the police somewhere to start.
Think of the immobiliser as plan A and the tracker as plan B.
What to look for in a car tracker
- Paired with prevention
- A tracker with an immobiliser means the thief has to beat the start before the tracker matters.
- Fitted, not just plugged in
- Ask your installer where the tracker goes and how it is wired.
- Clear pricing up front
- LockCAR systems are priced with fitting included, so you know the total.
- A camera as well
- Footage adds a record of what happened to the location data.
- Room to grow into a fleet

All three systems include the immobiliser, so tracking never replaces prevention. Choose the Duo versions if you want two cameras rather than one.
Left-hand drive cars get the Duo LH Plus, at the same price as the Duo RH Plus 4G.

Tracker or immobiliser first?
If you can only afford one, start with the immobiliser. It acts before the car moves, while a tracker acts afterwards.
If your car is often parked where it could be lifted onto a truck, the tracker matters more, because no immobiliser stops a car being carried away. The Plus 4G systems remove the choice by putting both in one fitting.

The LockCar One Plus 4G costs £499 with fitting included.

Questions about car trackers
Is a GPS tracker enough to protect my car?
It helps you find the car after it moves, but it does not stop the engine starting. Pair it with an immobiliser.
Which LockCAR systems include a tracker?
The Plus 4G versions: LockCar One Plus 4G, LockCar Duo RH Plus 4G and the left-hand drive Duo LH Plus.
How much is a LockCAR tracker system?
£499 for the LockCar One Plus 4G and £699 for the Duo RH Plus 4G, both with fitting included.
Can I stop the car remotely?
Remote immobilisation is part of the LFM Fleet Monitoring Platform, on vehicles with a compatible LockCAR 4G dashcam system.
Do you make left-hand drive versions?
Yes. The Duo LH Plus costs the same as the Duo RH Plus 4G.
What if my insurer asks for a Thatcham tracker?
Only a device certified in the category your policy names meets that condition. Check the wording with your insurer before you buy any tracker.
Will a tracker help the police find my car?
A tracker shows where the car is, which you can pass to the police. Do not try to recover the car yourself.
