The questions we get every day
Will it void my manufacturer warranty?
No. LockCar is installed professionally using the vehicle’s CAN data network, without cutting or modifying critical factory wiring. The installation is non-invasive and fully reversible, so it should not affect your manufacturer’s warranty.
Will it drain my battery?
LockCar is designed for continuous operation with an ultra-low standby current of around 4–7 mA.
At that level, a healthy vehicle battery will normally support the system for many weeks while the car is parked. In practice, battery life is affected far more by the vehicle’s own electronics – keyless entry, telematics and alarm modules – than by LockCar itself.
Can a thief find and bypass it?
LockCar has no visible indicators, emits no RF signal, and does not appear as an additional ECU during a routine diagnostic scan.
Every installation is hidden in a different place, so no two vehicles are the same. With no standard fitting point and no obvious wiring to identify, locating and bypassing the system becomes impractical within the short time a thief has during an attempt.
No security system can honestly claim to be impossible to defeat. LockCar is built to make relay attacks, key cloning and modern key theft significantly harder than the alternative parked next to you.
What if my phone dies or there’s no signal?
Your vehicle never depends solely on a mobile phone.
LockCar can always be disarmed with your personal PIN sequence, entered using the vehicle’s original buttons – completely offline, with no mobile coverage needed.
If your system includes the optional driver tag, the vehicle recognises it automatically when it’s present. If the tag isn’t to hand, you simply use your PIN instead. You are never locked out of your own car because of a flat phone battery.
How long does fitting take, and where?
Most installations take approximately 3–5 hours, depending on the vehicle. You can choose either:
- mobile fitting at your home or workplace, or
- one of our approved installation centres.
Most appointments can be arranged within a few days, subject to availability.
What if I sell the car?
LockCar can be professionally removed and transferred to another compatible vehicle. If you’re selling, our team removes the system, reinstalls it in your new car and transfers the app account where applicable. A transfer or reinstallation fee may apply.
