Fleet tracking simplified, a plain-language guide for small UK businesses
Fleet tracking is sometimes presented as a complex enterprise technology with lengthy implementation timelines and expensive infrastructure. For most small UK businesses, the reality is much simpler. A GPS tracker fitted to each van, connected to an app on your phone, tells you where your vehicles are at any time and alerts you if they move unexpectedly. LockCar makes it this simple, with mobile installation, a straightforward app, and pricing that makes sense for businesses of any size.

What fleet tracking actually is, in plain language
A fleet tracker is a small device fitted inside each of your vehicles that uses GPS satellites to calculate the vehicle’s position and a mobile data connection to send that position to an app on your phone. The app shows all your vehicles on a map. If a vehicle moves when it should not, you get an alert on your phone.
That is the core of fleet tracking. Everything else, driver behaviour reports, route history, camera feeds, fleet dashboards, is built on top of that simple foundation. For a small business with one or two vans, the core function is often all that is needed.
What you need to get started
To start fleet tracking with LockCar, you need: the LockCar hardware installed in each vehicle (our mobile engineer comes to you), the LockCar app on your smartphone (free download from Google Play or App Store), and a data connection for the 4G GPS function (contact us for current data plan options).
That is it. There is no lengthy setup process, no complex configuration, and no need for specialist IT knowledge. The engineer installs the hardware and shows you how to use the app before leaving. If you need help afterwards, call or WhatsApp Victor directly.
Starting small and growing
Many LockCar customers start with one vehicle and expand their fleet tracking as they see the benefits. The LFM Fleet Monitoring Platform is available when you have five or more vehicles and want a centralised dashboard. Until then, the LockCar app provides all the core features you need for a small fleet on a single, straightforward interface.
