Courier and delivery driver vehicle security, protecting your livelihood
Courier and delivery drivers face a specific vehicle security challenge. The vehicle carries high-value goods, operates across unfamiliar areas, is left unattended for brief periods throughout the working day, and is often parked overnight in residential areas away from the operator’s home base. LockCar’s dashcam and immobiliser systems address all of these risk dimensions.

Security risks for UK courier and delivery vehicles
Delivery vehicles present a different risk profile from standard commercial vehicles. The combination of known high-value cargo, a predictable operational pattern, and brief unattended periods creates opportunities that organised criminals exploit deliberately. Parcel theft from unattended delivery vehicles is a growing crime category, distinct from general van theft, where criminals observe delivery rounds and target the vehicle during drop-offs. A delivery van may be left unattended for 30 to 120 seconds per drop, repeated hundreds of times per route, providing multiple windows of opportunity.
For self-employed courier drivers operating under Amazon Flex, DPD franchise, or independent courier agreements, the financial impact of vehicle theft extends beyond the vehicle itself. Loss of the vehicle means loss of income for the duration that the route cannot be serviced. Cargo liability exposure depends on the specific courier agreement and insurance policy. Many self-employed drivers discover that their van insurance provides inadequate cover for the operational disruption following a theft.
Relay attacks on keyless delivery vans follow the standard pattern. Overnight residential parking is the highest-risk scenario, particularly for drivers who park their loaded van near their home rather than returning to a depot. The cargo value creates an additional motivation for theft beyond the vehicle itself.
LockCar for courier operations
The LockCar One Plus is the recommended unit for courier drivers who want both physical theft prevention and 4G GPS tracking. The GPS capability allows the driver to monitor the vehicle’s location from their phone during drop-offs, receiving an immediate alert if the van moves while they are at a door. The live camera provides a remote view of the vehicle and its immediate surroundings. The relay immobiliser ensures that even if a relay attack is attempted during a brief unattended period, the van cannot be started.
For courier fleet operators managing multiple drivers and vehicles, the LFM Fleet Monitoring Platform connects all LockCar-equipped vans to a centralised dashboard. Real-time GPS, camera feeds, and immobilisation status for every vehicle in the fleet are accessible from the LFM web dashboard or iOS app. Trip history allows route review for efficiency analysis and evidence in the event of incident investigations.
How LockCar stops this threat
LockCar installs a hardwired relay break in the vehicle start circuit. This break is positioned downstream of the factory immobiliser, the OBD port, and the CAN bus. Even if a criminal performs a successful relay attack or CAN bus injection and satisfies the factory security, the engine will not start because the LockCar relay is open. Closing that relay requires a second, independent encrypted authentication that relay equipment cannot replicate. LockCar is designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom and installed by mobile engineers at your home, workplace, or any accessible location.
LockCar recommended products
How long does LockCar installation take?
Installation typically takes 60 to 90 minutes. Our mobile engineer brings all parts and equipment to your location. The system is fully tested before the engineer leaves and you receive installation documentation on the same day.
Will LockCar interfere with my vehicle’s factory electronics?
No. LockCar installation uses vehicle-specific wiring procedures and connects to the start circuit in a way that is invisible to the factory CAN bus, ECU, and infotainment systems. All factory functions continue to operate exactly as before.
Does LockCar cover my area?
LockCar’s mobile service covers the entire UK. Same-day and next-day appointments are available in most areas. WhatsApp or call Victor to confirm availability and book at your preferred location.
Can I get insurance documentation after fitting LockCar?
Yes. Every LockCar installation comes with a full certificate including device serial number, installation date, vehicle registration, and a technical description of the relay break mechanism. This documentation is accepted by the majority of UK insurers for discount applications.
