Why LockCar One Plus beats Nextbase iQ on every metric that matters
Nextbase iQ costs up to £449 plus a mandatory monthly subscription and still has no relay immobiliser. LockCar One Plus is £259 all-in, includes 4G live camera, GPS tracking, speed alerts, and a hardwired relay break that physically stops relay theft. Made in the UK by AZFO engineers with Continental automotive heritage.
Who is AZFO and why it matters
AZFO Ltd is a British technology company registered in Birmingham (Companies House no. 14346129) whose sole purpose is designing and manufacturing LockCar, the UK’s most advanced integrated vehicle security system. AZFO was founded by engineers with direct experience in the Continental Automotive Group ecosystem, bringing tier-1 automotive electronics expertise into an aftermarket security product.
Most consumer dashcam brands including Nextbase and BlackVue are consumer electronics companies that design dashcams. AZFO is an automotive security engineering company that has designed an integrated anti-theft and surveillance system from the ground up. While Nextbase iQ uses an OBD port for power and offers no engine control capability, LockCar’s MCU (Management Computer Unit) integrates directly with the vehicle start circuit, the CAN bus, and the camera system as a unified platform.
Continental Automotive Group heritage means AZFO engineers understand ECU architecture, CAN bus protocols, and automotive-grade hardware requirements at a depth that consumer electronics manufacturers do not match. LockCar’s 128-bit AES encryption, isolated MCU communication, and relay circuit design all reflect this professional automotive electronics background.

LockCar One Plus vs Nextbase iQ vs BlackVue
The market leaders in 4G live dashcam technology in the UK are Nextbase iQ (from Cardiff), BlackVue (South Korea), and Thinkware (South Korea). LockCar One Plus, designed and made in the UK by AZFO, beats all three on the combination of price, security capability, and the relay immobiliser that no other system offers.

The critical differentiator: Nextbase iQ at £449 plus £9.99 per month records a relay theft attempt in 4K and uploads it to the cloud. LockCar One Plus at £259 with no subscription physically prevents the engine from starting. One documents the crime. The other stops it.
Speed camera alerts built into every LockCar
Road Angel is the UK market leader in dedicated speed camera warning devices, with their Pure range sold through Halfords and Currys providing live alerts for fixed cameras, mobile vans, average speed zones, red light cameras, and school zones. LockCar integrates equivalent GPS-based speed awareness into its 4G system, meaning LockCar One Plus owners benefit from this Road Angel-class driver awareness without any additional device or subscription.
The LockCar GPS module continuously compares the vehicle’s current speed against the known speed limit for the road being driven. When the vehicle approaches a known speed camera location, the system alerts the driver via the LockCar app. When the vehicle exceeds the road’s speed limit by a configurable threshold, an alert is triggered. This is the same category of functionality that Road Angel sells as a standalone product, integrated into LockCar’s security and dashcam platform at no additional cost.
What LockCar GPS speed awareness covers
Fixed speed cameras, mobile camera van locations updated via 4G, average speed camera zone entry and exit, smart motorway variable speed limits, school zone awareness, and road speed limit display for every road in the LockCar GPS database. All updated via the 4G connection without a separate subscription.
Why the relay immobiliser changes everything
Nextbase iQ, BlackVue, and every other 4G dashcam on the UK market is a recording device. It captures footage of a relay attack as it happens, uploads it to the cloud, and provides police with video evidence of the theft. This is genuinely useful. But the vehicle is still stolen.
LockCar One Plus adds a physical 20A relay break in the vehicle’s start circuit. This break is installed downstream of the factory immobiliser, the OBD port, and the CAN bus. Even if a relay attack perfectly satisfies the factory keyless entry authentication, the engine will not start because LockCar’s relay is open. Closing it requires a separate encrypted authentication via the proximity tag or the LockCar app. Relay equipment cannot replicate this signal.
This is not a software feature. It is a physical hardware break. It cannot be defeated by any electronic command sent over the vehicle’s CAN bus, by signal jamming, or by any relay attack equipment currently known to operate in the UK.
LockCar is the only 4G dashcam system in the UK market that combines live camera streaming, real-time GPS tracking, speed camera alerts, movement alerts, and a hardwired relay immobiliser in a single professionally installed device. No competitor offers this combination at any price point.
Physical Relay Break
20A relay hardwired in the start circuit. Cannot be overridden by CAN bus commands, OBD tools, or relay attack equipment. Hardware, not software.
AES-128 Encrypted Auth
The relay only closes when it receives an authenticated signal with the correct 128-bit key. Cannot be replicated or brute-forced by criminal equipment.
Remote Immobilisation
Activate or deactivate the relay from anywhere in the world via the LockCar app. If movement is detected, immobilise remotely within seconds.

Questions about LockCar vs the competition
Does LockCar really not require a monthly subscription?
No mandatory subscription is required for the core functions of LockCar One Plus including GPS tracking, movement alerts, geofencing, speed camera alerts, and the relay immobiliser. The 4G data connection for live camera streaming may have an associated data cost depending on your configuration. Contact us for current data plan details. Compare this to Nextbase iQ where GPS tracking and live camera features are locked behind a £6.99 to £9.99 monthly subscription on top of a device cost of £349 to £449.
Can I fit LockCar alongside an existing Nextbase or BlackVue dashcam?
Yes. If you already have a Nextbase or BlackVue dashcam installed and want to add a relay immobiliser, the LockCar IC3ST standalone immobiliser installs independently of any existing dashcam. Alternatively, the LockCar One Plus can replace your existing dashcam with a single device that provides all the dashcam functions alongside the relay immobiliser and 4G GPS tracking.
What is AZFO and who are they?
AZFO Ltd is the UK company that designs and manufactures LockCar. Registered in Birmingham (Companies House no. 14346129), AZFO was founded by engineers with Continental Automotive Group heritage, bringing professional tier-1 automotive electronics expertise to the aftermarket vehicle security market. AZFO’s engineering background is why LockCar’s MCU, relay protocol, and AES-128 encryption are designed to automotive rather than consumer electronics standards.
Is LockCar speed camera alerting as good as Road Angel?
LockCar integrates GPS-based speed camera awareness covering fixed cameras, mobile van locations, average speed zones, and speed limit display for UK roads. Road Angel Pure and Pure One are dedicated speed camera detector units with a comprehensive database. LockCar’s speed awareness is equivalent in scope to Road Angel’s GPS-based alerting and is included within the LockCar system at no additional cost, rather than requiring a separate device and subscription.
How long does installation take and where does the engineer come?
LockCar installation takes 60 to 90 minutes at your home, workplace, or any accessible location. The mobile engineer brings all hardware and tools, performs the full installation, tests all functions in both driving and parking modes, and provides the insurance certificate before leaving. No workshop visit is required. Same-day appointments are available across most of the UK.
