Which Car Tracker & Immobiliser is Right for Me?
A complete guide to choosing the right LockCar security system for your vehicle, driving habits, and risk level.
On this page
Choosing the right vehicle security can be overwhelming. This guide breaks down the LockCar range to help you find the perfect match for your vehicle, driving habits, and risk level. From basic immobilisers to fully connected 4G GPS tracking systems with cameras, we have a solution for every need and budget.
Understanding your risk level
Before choosing a system, assess your risk. Vehicles with keyless entry are most vulnerable to relay attacks. Luxury SUVs, executive cars, and high-performance vehicles are primary targets. If you park on a driveway or street rather than in a secure garage, your risk is higher. Areas with higher vehicle crime rates require more comprehensive protection. Commercial vehicles carrying tools or high-value goods need additional layers of security.
Comparing LockCar systems
The LockCar range explained
Which one is right for you?
For budget-conscious drivers or older vehicles: LockCar i226 provides essential immobiliser protection at the lowest price point. The wired connection and 20A relay make it suitable for most cars and vans.
For drivers wanting simple, effective protection: LockCar IC3ST offers standalone operation with app and tag control. No complex MCU required — just reliable dual-factor authentication.
For most drivers: LockCar ONE is our best-seller. The combination of a professional dashcam with 24/7 parking recording and a hardwired immobiliser provides comprehensive protection without monthly fees.
For premium vehicles and peace of mind: LockCar One Plus delivers the ultimate protection. Real-time GPS tracking, remote immobilisation, and live camera views from anywhere in the world via 4G. Perfect for high-value cars and business fleets.
For businesses with multiple vehicles: The LockCar Fleet Monitoring Platform (LFM) centralises location, immobilisation status, camera feeds, and trip history for every equipped vehicle. Contact us for fleet pricing for five or more vehicles.
All LockCar immobilisers provide a physical relay break in the start circuit that requires encrypted authentication to close. This is fundamentally different from factory-fitted systems which can be defeated by relay amplification. No matter which system you choose, you are adding a critical layer of protection.
Do I need a professional fitting?
Professional fitting is recommended for all LockCar systems to ensure correct installation and optimal performance. We offer mobile fitting across the UK from £150, including the i226 unit. Contact us for fitting quotes for other systems.
Will an immobiliser affect my car’s warranty?
Professionally fitted immobilisers that do not permanently modify vehicle wiring generally do not affect warranties. LockCar systems are installed using approved methods that can be removed without trace if necessary. Check with your dealer for specific warranty terms.
Can I transfer my LockCar system to a new vehicle?
Yes. LockCar immobilisers can be professionally removed and reinstalled in another vehicle. Contact us for transfer pricing.
What is the difference between a tracker and an immobiliser?
A tracker shows you where your vehicle is after it’s stolen. An immobiliser prevents it from being started in the first place. For best protection, use both. LockCar One Plus combines 4G GPS tracking with remote immobilisation in a single system.
