Car immobiliser FAQ
All UK cars manufactured after 1998 have a factory immobiliser. It verifies your key’s chip — but relay attacks bypass this by amplifying your real key’s signal. An aftermarket relay immobiliser adds a second, independent layer the relay attack cannot replicate.
LockCar relay products have zero CAN bus contact. They interrupt an existing circuit — equivalent to an additional switch. Most manufacturers’ warranties are not affected. CAN bus products like Ghost have been confirmed by BMW to void manufacturer warranty.
